Ma Khin War

I am a mother from Lay Kay Kaw Village in Karen State. My main income comes from daily wages. I am the only one doing to earn money to my family since my husband is a drunkard and doesn’t support my family such as the schooling of my children.. I was so tired to earn money alone. Sometimes we didn’t have enough food to eat. Furthermore, my husband took money from me by force. Sometimes I had nothing left.
When PSSAG was implementing sewing training for girls in our village, I was so happy and would love to join the training. I believed that this will be a huge changing for me and for my family. After the training, I got many skills and can have small business of my own. Now I am able to accept the orders from the customers. We have suffidient money for our needs and I have save some money so I can send my childred to school. I am so thankful this great training programme of PSSAG.

Naw Eh Eh

I am 19 years old, still living with my family , my parents and My father was a farmer and main income was from the farm. He supported all the family members, my brothers and sisters who were studying in the school from the wages from the farm. His earnings were meager and not enough for all the family members. I wanted to increase the family income but I didn’t know how to help my family.

At that time, I found PSSAG and “I was delighted to hear about the introduction of the sewing training programme in our city for women to enable them”. During the training, I was so scared to talk to the trainers because of my poor Burmese language. I have come from Lay Kay Kaw village, Karen state who speaks another dialect.. I don’t even know how to read and write and I never go to school since I was young. It’s so difficult for me to learn when it comes to measuring. However, our teacher was so good and patient on me. I knew myself that I should tried more than other people. So, I tried very hard and repeating again and again what I couldn’t do well. I didn’t even stop doing until the midnight while everyone was sleeping. My friends were also very kind and helping me a lot. So right now, I can be able to do everything what I had learned from the trainer. I’m giving a training to others people now. And got many orders from the customers. Now, I earn an amount of 150 Thai Baht ($4.75) per cloth. I earned more income which enabled me to meet the needs of my family.
